Blue Peter Foundation uses the World Water flag to create public awareness, as large as possible, in order to make every 22nd of the month a WATER DAY. The aim is that everyone, especially in the richer countries of this world, will be reminded on the fact that too much water is terrible but a shortage of water even more horrible. This is why the Blue Peter Foundation's ever repeating message is about:

World Water awareness

The world wide water problems consist of too much water as well as a shortage of water. Due to the lack of clean drinkwater 20.000 humans die every day. Next to this also a SANITATION problem exists. Lack of hygienic situation threatens 1.000.000.000 humans with a shorter life. A world wide water awareness by everyone on this earth is needed. Every 7th human being on earth has a water problem. The remaining 6... be aware! “We are in a desperate need of a World Wide Awareness Campaign” According to a speech by the Dutch Crown Prince Willem Alexander to the United Nations.

* We are in a desperate need of a World Wide Awareness Campaign*
Sprak Z.K.H. Prins Willem Alexander de verenigde Naties toe.

Only 2 % of the general public, the water experts, is aware about this water problem. Blue Peter is committed to make it 100%. This is necessary to make the available solutions a reality, as the crown prince intended in his speech.
